We recently released a Splunk add-on for the Progress Kemp LoadMaster. The LoadMaster is an enterprise class Load Balancer which can be used to load balance browser requests over websites presented internally and externally. It can also be used for many other load balancing purposes.

The Kemp Add-on for Splunk allows you to pull configuration and monitoring data from the Progress Kemp LoadMaster load balancer.

The Add-on can be downloaded from Splunkbase here:

https://splunkbase.splunk.com/app/6830

After setting up a read only API key on the device(s) and installing the add-on, you’ll be able to:

  • ingest Virtual Service and Sub-Virtual Service configuration and status
  • ingest real server endpoint information and status
  • ingest usage data per virtual service and real (target) server

Using Splunk searches and visualisations you’ll be able to see the big picture over all the sites you have routing through your load balancer.

Using ITSI you can build a service tree from your LoadMaster data and track the status of every virtual service as a KPI.  Real server status and data volumes can also be tracked as KPIs.

Easy to install and setup, this add-on ingests minimal data and provides massive amount of visibility into your environment.  The data ingested is in JSON format and is therefore easy to search and report on.

The Add-on was built agains the Progress Kemp LoadMaster API which is documented here:
