Last week we mentioned that Version 4.0.0 of the Splunk Add-On Builder has been released, and that apps built with any previous versions would need to be updated before August 31st. This week, we’ll show you how to do that.
We are using a virtual machine with a clean install of Splunk 8.2 and the upgraded Add-On Builder to upgrade our Add-on for Mulesoft Cloudhub, which avoids naming conflicts.
- Export your add-on from the old version off the Add-On Builder
- Upgrade the Add-On Builder, or switch to a Splunk instance with the upgraded Add-On Builder installed.
- Select Import Project, and import the file you just exported.

And that’s it, your app has been updated! Validate & package as usual, and upload it on Splunkbase before 31st August for continued operation with Splunk Enterprise Cloud.
For 2021 we’ve committed to posting a new Splunk tip every week!
