Splunk Add-On Builder v4.0 Released

Version 4.0.0 of the Splunk Add-On Builder has been released. This free Splunk app takes away many of the cumbersome parts of developing a Splunk technical add-on, leaving you free to concentrate on the key components. For REST APIs you can often develop with no coding at all. This developer tool will also run all of the validation checks for you, making sure your add-on is ready to upload to splunk base. We’re big fans of the add-on builder here at iDelta, we’ve used to it to create many technical add-ons for customers and splunkbase, including our most recent release the Add-on for Mulesoft Cloudhub: https://splunkbase.splunk.com/app/5479/

If you are using the add-on builder, you should make sure that you have updated your apps using this version in order to ensure they remain compatible. To do this, export your current project and then import it into this new version to create a new compatible project.

From the release notes:
“This release of Splunk Add-on Builder provides compatibility with future versions of Splunk, newer versions of dependencies such as the Splunk SDK, removes legacy python2 code, and improves the generated user interface. All Add-ons produced with previous versions of Add-on builder must be updated prior to August 31, 2021 for continued operation with Splunk Enterprise Cloud.”
